View Full Version : So, what did ya'll eat for breakfast this morning?

rumination

I'm always looking for good easy breakfast options. I tend to eat the same thing every day until I'm totally sick of it and then switch to something else.

Right now breakfast is usually a bowl of oatmeal with a big dollop of crunchy peanut butter mixed in, a banana, and if I'm still hungry some more fruit or a fried/scrambled egg or two. Sometimes coffee or tea is involved, as well.

So what is everybody else snacking on this morning? :)

Rumi, MB loves the oatmeal and peanut butter! I personally don't eat breakfast very often. When I do, it is usually cantaloupe or watermelon. Once in a great, great while, the whole eggs, bacon, and toast, always eaten out.

Butter on the toast, too - right? And whole milk? Man, that's a breakfast straight outta the 50's. I would never give that to my loved ones every day.

Once or twice a month, at the most.

Kids can handle a lot more fat than adults can. Remember they are putting on weight and growing taller at an amazing rate. The key is exercise. We are more apt to limit sugar than we are fat.

And THAT'S BS! Have you seen the stats on overweight and obese children lately?

BABIES need a high fat diet, hence colostrum. Milk is for babies!

My wife would disagree with you James, healthy is healthy no matter what the age, and fatty food goes to work on the arteries young and old they're not picky. I ain't trying to start nothing just saying is all, we are having a hard time getting our daughter to eat healthy as she's just like me very picky.

Dinner tonight was chicken, brown rice, and salad yum yum :( . Do I really want to live forever?

Breakfast is oatmeal and a banana or some other kind of fruit and an egg either poached or scrambled. Often we just opt for egg whites. Sometimes I opt right out and fall back into my old pattern of drinking coffee all morning and skipping breakfast and feeling like crap by about lunch.

Pancakes on the weekend though!:D

My granddad was a farmer - worked everyday of his life and ate a diet that should killed him instantly - fried steak, eggs (huge plates of em), real bacon, whole milk fresh from the cow, etc. He lived into his 80's and was active until the end.

I still think exercise has a lot to do with it.

I don't know the exacto's of it, but I'll run it by my wife when she gets back from the gym. I know my argument of aww c'mon she's only three she can have that never flies with my wife. And whenever we do luck out and get to have fries made at home ya know the cholesterol/bad fat free kind, my wife always apologies to our arteries while serving them.

Now I'm not saying that you're doing anything wrong Jame's just saying that certainly bad food, is bad no matter what the age. The effects may not be apparent nearly as immediately as in us adults, but you are what you eat.

Diet should be based on knowledge though not marketing or just taste buds. It's like most things you need to focus on your goal and set realistic plans in place to get/maintain whatever it is. It's a 100% personal choice and really we can only make the call for ourselves.

My wife has a B.S. in food science and my brother is a surgeon, both agree that there is more good cholesterol in eggs than bad and that cheese should be part of a healthy diet.

Main thing is everything in moderation. I doubt James feeds his kids bacon every morning, but I bet he won't admit it now.

James, I am mostly on your side.-Butch has a point about training ourselves for high fat(and for many of us -high sugar) diets when we are kids but I don't buy the "eggs are bad" thing for a minute-the AMA has changed their collective mind(?) 15 times about eggs.
