I am shocked, the motel in this little town has high speed internet. Had to turn around after an hour on the road and take the lift back to the mechanics to check over the rebuilt tranny.........2-3 hours later had to drive through a white out for a couple hours. Could not see where the road ended and the ditch began, also couldn't see 10 ft infront of the truck. Talk about white knuckles. This beer tastes sooooooooo good right now!

I spoke with Craig on the phone today. He and the family arrived safe at their beachside condo. Craig did say he managed to forget his camera on the plane, although that is probably excusable when traveling with a 2 year old. He was off to Circuit City to pick up another one.
I have a fishing trip with a guide booked for Tuesday. Much better odds of actually finding fish, and all gear/ tackle/ licenses are provided. Watch this thread for pictures of our A.G.M. at Mosquito Lagoon on Tuesday.

The AGM of the principal officers of Alberta Arborists Inc. and Rocky J Squirrel, Arborist got off to a late start due to weather delays. Cool, cloudy conditions were less than optimal for attaining our prescribed goals. PETA would be proud as no animals were harmed as a result of this endeavor.

Here's Craig with the KSC launch pads in the background and a picture of our Captian, who guided us around Mosquito Lagoon and showed us many redfish and trout. Unfortunately none of the fish were in the mood to eat. I had several literally swim over top of my lure. But we had a great time and it was a pleasure to finally meet Craig in person.

I'm officially checking out for awhile...headed down to deep S. GA for our annual "SuckerFest". We put out a mile of gill nets in a swamp today, go out in boats tomorrow, gather up several boatloads of fish (suckers - a type of carp -, bass, catfhis, bass, ....) and dress them. Then we have a big family, local community cookout Saturday by the old tobacco barn. Lots fun, good camaraderie.

We sleep on an island in the swamp, cook over open fires, tell lies and have fun.

'Til later.

Well I made it back. Left Olds Saturday morning, made some good time until Medicine Hat and then the roads turned to hell (ICY). From the Hat to Swift Current was white knuckle all the way. All in all a thirteen hour trip both ways and it's nice to be home. Deerfoot Trail (not shown) was the most nerve wracking highway I've ever been on. Road conditions were good but the drivers are insane. Everybody doing at least 130kmh, bumper to bumper and talking on cell phones.:\: I was born in Calgary but I'm a Manitoba boy all the way.

Needed a 75% to pass. I might've got 80%. Seen some gory pictures of electrical burns. Something that doesn't look too bad on day one ends up rotting from the inside out and usually results in amputation. Made me wonder what the hell I'm doing in this line of work.

Excellent point, Ryan. What stood out for me the most in EHAP was the case where a guy didn't seek medical treatment after a shock, and the "cooking" from the inside out continued until he was dead.
ALWAYS GET CHECKED OUT AFTER A SHOCK, EVEN IF YOU THINK IT WASN'T SERIOUS !!!

There were also pictures showing the effects of wearing synthetic material next to your skin while on fire. Cotton underwear left buddy virtually unscathed in that sensitive area while the rest of him was burnt to heck when a transformer spewed flaming oil on him. We are required to wear FResistantC to aid against flash fires as an outer layer but if there was a steady source of flame I would be toast once my coveralls burnt through.

All was for naught.

We went out here on the head boat, Rudy Mariner.
The winds were light, but seas were about 4ft out past the Chesapeake Lighthouse.

The stripers were poor to fair in biting, mostly small, under the limit in size.
There were 2 'togs caught and kept.
A couple of small sharks were caught and released.
No flounders were caught.

I caught nothing except for an awkward sunburn with two stripes where the temples of sunglasses came down the side of my face.

I've pics and video, that I need to work on now. :D More to come!

Gary, did they have amazing food up in the suite?

Yes the food was fantastic...

Chicken Cordon Bleu
Smothered Steak with mashed potatoes
3-cheese Ravioli with a really good marinara sauce
Roasted Aparagus
Soup and salad
bread and rolls
damn near anything you wanted to drink

We got to listen to the drivers talk to their crews with headset radios that were given to us... that was friggin' cool too!

I was spoiled rotten on this trip. Can't wait to go back in October!

GASoline71

They can get excited at times... but for the most part they are calm. Kasey is very calm on the radio... unlike his younger brother (Kale) that spots for him.

Tony Stewart gets a little mouthy... so does Kyle Busch.

Yup... the spotters let the driver know about trouble on the track and what to look out for during crashes. They let them know who is in what place on the track as well.

HAHA

Enjoy.

Well I guess I'll explain as I wait for upload, there was about 8 of us.
We floated and paddled for 3 days and had awesome times, til the wind
came.

If we didn't walk back the 70 mph winds would have blown us into nevada.

We were a motley crew, some folks didn't bring sleeping bags nor other nescessities. Though lots of flannels.

We launched at about Midnight on monday, great moon.

Turns out they gave me and J the leaky boat, about a gallon an hour bailing.
maybe more.

More pics. I only took 250 pics, love that digi camera.

Lots of scenery, the backside of the Sierras and the Whites.

Lots of cheap beer, maybe your finest, Pabst.

The sun was beating down on us, before the wind came in.

My Aunt's part burned in 1969. I helped them gather their cattle a couple of times. Brutal brush, steeper than hell. Where she lives is by Figueroa Mountain. Nice pictures Reddog. Some of the trails for the cattle to come out on are blasted into the rock by the Forest Service.
