looking at a used one - maybe 3 years old - if I come up with a gas tank I can get the saw for little or nothing. what compression numbers are we talking if it still has plenty of life?
THANKS!

125psi and UP for compression, higher is obviously better) and no idea on the gas tank.
Remeber that at 125psi, it's right on the edge of death.

What's wrong with the tank?

As a normal rule,a light hone and a set of new rings will fix low compression .Rings are relatively inexpensive .
gas tank is about the most expensive part:dur:

gas tank is about the most expensive part:dur: Yep about a couple hundred bucks for a new one .You can buy the whole saw often cheaper than the parts to fix one .
